THIRD-QUARTER UPDATE: Laurel knotted the count at 7-7 when Dylan Jones capped a 12-play, 51-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run in the final three minutes of the period.
SECOND-QUARTER UPDATE: After Kyle Crawford's interception and 13-yard return gave Ellwood the ball at the Laurel 30, the Wolverines needed four plays to take a 7-0 lead when Crawford scored from 2 yards out with 5:06 remaining.
FIRST-QUARTER UPDATE: The only scoring threat in the period came when Laurel recovered an Ellwood fumble at the Wolverine 47 with 8:56 remaining. But the Spartans turned the ball over on downs. Both teams punted twice in the rain-soaked 12-minute session.
