Barrett, Ioanilli spark Wolverines to shutout victory

D.J. Barrett and Nick Ioanilli put the Ellwood City Lincoln High football team on their backs last night.
Barrett rushed for 150 yards on 25 carries and Ioanilli added 141 yards on 28 tries in the Wolverines’ 14-0 non-conference victory over Burgettstown on Friday night.
Ellwood is now 2-3 overall. Burgettstown also is 2-3.
The Wolverines opened the scoring with a 44-yard run by Barrett in the second quarter. Ellwood missed a chance for a first-quarter TD when it fumbled at the Burgettstown 13 after a 70-yard drive.
Barrett added an insurance touchdown with a 1-yard run in the final frame. Justin Baney tacked on both PAT kicks.
The Wolverines’ Andrew O’Brien ended two Burgettstown threats with interceptions.
The Wolverines travel to Beaver Falls next Friday night.
