Phillip Telesz scored on a 20-yard fourth-quarter pass from William Shaffer and the Laurel High football team held on for a 31-28 non-conference win at Deer Lakes.
Laurel is now 5-3 overall. Deer Lakes slipped to 1-6.
Deer Lakes came back and scored a late touchdown on the Spartans, but the Laurel defense hung tough.
Jacob Collier got the scoring started for the Spartans with a 36-yard pass from Shaffer.
Telesz scored on a 13-yard pass from Shaffer and Jordan Dantico added a 50-yard pass reception from Shaffer.
A 3-yard run by Spencer Jones set the stage for Telesz's eventual game-winning touchdown.
Laurel travels to New Brighton next Friday night.
