Spartans head into playoff with win

The Laurel High football team is going into the postseason on a high note.
The Spartans rolled past visiting Carlynton 42-0 in non-conference action to end the regular season.
Laurel heads into the postseason at 7-3. The Cougars closed out at 2-7.
The Spartans rolled up 429 yards of offense, including 297 on the ground and 132 through the air.
Laurel led 28-0 at the half and never looked back.
Phillip Telesz got the Spartans on the board first with a 3-yard run. Jessie Pacifico added a 2-yard burst and Telesz tacked on a 10-yard scamper.
Isici Layne scored on a 23-yard pass from Will Shaffer to expand the lead at the half.
Daniel Blank got the second-half scoring going with a 14-yard run. Pacifico accounted for the final TD on a 9-yard run.
Blank, a freshman, rushed for 107 yards on 10 carries. Spencer Jones added 82 yards on 15 attempts.
Shaffer, also a freshman, was 7 of 12 through the air with one interception for 132 yards.
Layne caught two passes for 61 yards.
